Last two artists from Ooh LaLa Paris! Meet Carolyn and Isabelle.

Carolyn Kramer and Isabelle Ybarra are two very talented artists that are featured in our current art exhibit, Ooh La La Paris. We are so excited to give you a little knowledge about Carolyn and Isabelle in this blog post. This exhibit is open until August 25th. Stop by and check it out before its too late!

Meet Isabelle Ybarra:

Originally from the world of classical music, self-taught in visual arts,
Isabelle has been creating a piece per day for almost 10 years in the form
of small formats by freely mixing techniques, but mainly colored pencils,
oil and dry pastels, neocolors, gouache and, sometimes, watercolor.

Ferdinand Hodler, Edouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Felix Valotton, Henri
Matisse but also Jacques Tardi, Herge, Vittorio Giardino, are all figures
who inspire her.

In parallel with her classical piano studies, she undertook literature
studies in French, German and history as well as pedagogical studies.
Since then, she has worked 45 years as a French and German teacher
and raised three children.

Isabelle has always been immersed in an artistic universe. For years, she
shared a magnificent studio with her ex-husband, Daniel Ybarra, a visual
artist, and spent a lot of time in the world of Contemporary Art with him.

Recently retired, Isabelle finally has time to indulge in her eclectic
passions: music, painting, embroidery, singing and reading.

Carolyn Kramer's Behind the Scenes:

For centuries, Paris has been known as the fashion capital of the world, creating a city of beautiful women. This portrait, "Ava", evokes a sense of a chic, elegant Parisian woman.

Painting process: Precise planning went into the creation of the portrait, "Ava". Painted directly onto heavy watercolor paper, resembling gold edged, antiquated parchment. Decorative elements are expressed throughout the layers of vivid colors, borders within borders and complex patterns. Lace, net and squiggled string imprints have been scrapped, brushed and swirled onto the paper to add texture, whimsy and lots of personality to the images. Black and white checked borders add a dynmaic, contemporary touch.
