Meet the Artists of Autumn Impressions

Susan Contreras Celis, Lucie Lisi, and Bonnie Taylor are three very talented artists that are featured in our current art exhibit, Autumn Impressions. We are so excited to give you a little knowledge about these artists in this blog post. This exhibit is open until October 5th. Stop by and check it out before its too late!

Meet Susan Contreras Celis:

"I am Susan Contreras Celis of Westlake Village, CA. In my studio there is no beginning, middle or end. Time stands still. There are no worries. I am in the moment, I am listening, I am seeing, I am creating, I am free. There is no place I'd rather be."

"'Autumn Impressions' tugs at my heartstrings. I grew up in Michigan!
The season of Fall has always been my favorite. It represents to me: a welcomed shift in the sun, crisp clean air, strong wind, crunchy leaves, football season, pumpkins, turkey, and a wardrobe change."

"The most stunning is the autumn stage, produced by mother nature, featuring vibrant colors of tree leaves. We watch this scene carefully and closely because before we know it that strong autumn wind blows and makes the leaves disappear... until next year."

"Autumn is a time of change, hope, inspiration, reflection and love."

Meet Lucie Lisi:

"My artistic practice is characterized by a deep enthusiasm for experimentation and exploration across a wide range of mediums. I perceive art as an infinite space where the limits of creativity can be expanded and reimagined. My body of work includes painting, sculpture, mixed media art, each medium providing distinct avenues for articulating my vision and emotions."

"For me, the creative process is a journey infused with spontaneity and curiosity. I draw inspiration from my surroundings —nature, human experiences, and cultural stories -which significantly shape my artistic decisions. By integrating various materials and techniques, I aspire to foster a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, inviting them to engage with the intricate layers of meaning and texture."

"My dedication to experimentation empowers me to challenge traditional forms and stretch the boundaries of my imagination. Whether through the vivid hues of a painting or the tactile nature of a sculpture, I strive to produce works that resonate both emotionally and intellectually. Ultimately, my objective as an artist is to inspire others to cultivate their own creativity and recognize the beauty that emerges from exploration and innovation. Each piece I create reflects my journey, and I welcome you to accompany me on this continually evolving adventure."

Meet Bonnie Taylor:

Bonnie, a native Mississippian, resides in Camarillo, California but has lived in France, Turkey, Italy, and several locations in The United states.
She received a Master's degree in French from the University of Mississippi, a TESL certificate from the University of California-Santa Barbara, and a CELI certification from the Università per Stranieri, Perugia, Italy.
She began her study of oil painting in 2007 at the Van Art Studio in Castelvelturnetaly, with Luigi Van Westraut and was awarded a Diploma d'Artista in 2009.

"Art elevates our understanding of what it means to be human. Art is a unifying force and allows us to enter into and participate in another's experiences of the world. The emotional response that the viewer has to a painting is unique to that person and may differ from the emotion the artist wished to express. This serves to open up a conversation."

"My ongoing goal as a painter is challenge myself to create ever more complicated and sophisticated works of art. That is reflected in paintings that are less traditional and less representational with more emphasis on expressive brushwork, color harmony, and design. I look for the ordinary in the world around me and attempt to turn it into something unexpected."
